Global youth unemployment stands at record levels and significantly outstrips that of joblessness rates for other age groups. Everywhere you look, the numbers are deeply troubling. The latest statistics from the International Labour Organization put the global youth unemployment rate at more than 81 million workers – 40 percent of the total unemployed. The developing world, with generally younger populations, is disproportionately affected. To narrow the gap, SK has enacted a wide range of social activities as well as made efforts to drive economic growth as a responsible corporate citizen. But in the process of undertaking such activities, SK soon realized that simple acts of charity are not enough to find an efficient solution to the deep-rooted malaise in society, and that a social enterprise can be a mechanism to address pressing issues and create sustainable values.
